The FastShip design is much more than the commercial vessel design—it is a family of vessels. The virtues of the design—speed, seakeeping, payload, reliability, flexibility, range, steel hull—can also be valuable in other military applications requiring speeds of up to 60 knots (69 mph). For example, smaller versions of the ship could be incorporated into littoral combat and logistical support concepts; large versions of the ship could be incorporated into seabasing concepts.
